The Pawnbroker

Rod Steiger stars in this American drama directed by Sidney Lumet. Sol Nazzerman (Steiger) is a Jewish pawnbroker living in Harlem, haunted by the horrific experience of being a POW in a Nazi camp during the Holocaust. Having lost faith in God and his fellow man, Sol becomes increasingly cold and distant when his shop assistant Jesus (Jaime Sanchez) and social worker Marilyn (Geraldine Fitzgerald) attempt to break through his resentful exterior.
