It was yet another rollercoaster season for Chelsea Football Club, who saved the best till last with victory in the Champions League final in Porto.
The story of 2020/21 began with an exciting summer and the arrival of six new additions. Alongside blossoming home-grown talent, the Blues hit their stride in autumn and even briefly went top of the table, but a winter wobble led to a change in head coach. Thomas Tuchel joined, quickly solidifying the defence, and securing impressive victories at Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, and Liverpool.
As Chelsea kept marching on in the FA Cup and the Champions League, the race for a top-four finish went down to the wire. Success over Leicester in our penultimate league fixture, joyfully played in front of supporters at Stamford Bridge after so long without them, ultimately proved decisive.
The same opposition had beaten us in the FA Cup final, but the biggest prize of all awaited in Portugal. There, the Blues inflicted a third defeat on Man City under Tuchel thanks to Kai Havertz's strike.
