As Sash's Greatest Hits collection readily demonstrates, his tune s seem to fit into two distinctive but contradictory categories. They are either "I'm on top of the world"/Life is brilliant"-type anthems (examples of such compositions include "La Primavera", "Move Mania" and "Colour The World"), or tunes highlighting the losses and fears of modern life ("Stay", "Mysterious Times" and "Just Around The Hill"). Whatever style he adopts, you are always guaranteed a catchy tune, which can easily be transferred from the dance floor to the car stereo. Four decent tracks taken from his first three album's are also included ("Sweat", "Little River", "Multiply Teaser" and "Together Again"). Ending the first disc there is a gargantuan but excellent 16-minute medley of Sash's hits. Unfortunately the same can't be said of the second disc included in this collection which is an "in-the-mix" tour of some unreleased remixes of Sash's greatest hits. After listening for five minutes you are left wondering why they bothered but at least the first disc is a good enough reason to purchase this Best Of collection of the king of Euro-pop. --John Galilee
