Period drama based on a novel by Wilkie Collins. Jared Leto stars as Basil, a lonely and somewhat naive young aristocrat in early 20th-century England who is struggling to meet the approval of his overbearing, class-conscious father while simultaneously doing all he can to please the selfish woman he loves (Claire Forlani). Christian Slater co-stars as the duplicitous John Mannion, whose sinister plot for revenge threatens to undermine Basil's entire existence.
