Through interviews and rare film coverage of her concerts in the 1960's, the riveting documentary traces the gritty-voiced blues rocker from her childhood in Port Arthur, Texas to her first rehearsals and performances with Big Brother and the Holding Company, through her triumph at Woodstock and ultimate superstardom.

The production, which took Executive Producer F.R Crawley three years to research, features Janis's soul-searing performances of 14 songs including 'Mercedes Benz','Ball and Chain', 'Piece of my Heart', 'Tell Mama','Kozmic Blues' and 'Me and Bobby McGee'.
