However, their community is dominated by the zealous and not particularly pious preacher Josiah (Isaacs), who takes a shine to Sarah and her land. Brutally seizing what he desires through the murder of Miguel and the rape of Sarah is not unusual behaviour for Josiah, but the response it receives is. An incandescent Sarah, driven mad by grief and despair, embarks on a murderous rampage that takes aim at Josiah but encompasses almost anyone unfortunate enough to stumble across her path. Can the eccentric Sheriff Jackson (Harris), in town to investigate a previous crime committed by Josiah, find a way to rein her in?
