Franco Cavallone (1957) is one of today's most prolific and successful composers for the guitar. He himself studied the guitar with Bruno Mattioli, a pupil of Alirio Diaz, Leo Brouwer and Angelo Gilardino. He won several international competitions, both as a soloist and as a composer.
Cavallone's musical language is firmly based in the 20-th century, tonally centred, deriving inspiration from the wide spectrum of styles, such as folk music, Latin-American music, jazz and musical giants such as Ravel, Debussy, Bartók and Bernstein.
Played with supreme mastery and total commitment by Cristiano Porqueddu, one of the leading guitarists of today, with an immense discography on Brilliant Classics to his name.
The booklet contains excellent and personal liner notes written by the composer.
