Fast Food Nation

Richard Linklater-directed fictionalised condemnation of fast-food consumerism based on the best selling book by Eric Schlosser. Through the stories of several individuals in one small town, and with an ensemble cast including Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Willis, Ethan Hawke and pop star Avril Lavigne, the hypocrisy and big business mentality of the burger industry is laid bare. From ranchers exploited and under-paid for their beef cattle cattle to the migrant workers exploited as burger slingers at the counters, Linklater carefully outlines exactly how the 20th century phenomenon of a cheap hamburger impacts many, many lives in an almost universally negative way.
