Krzysztof Kie?lowski's celebrated Sixties-set drama follows two young women, both called Veronica, who seem to have a single existence, albeit in different countries. They are identical, sharing mannerisms, predilections and musical talent. They nurture ambition, hopes and loves, and suffer from the same rare heart disease. Kie?lowski's oblique, luminously photographed and hauntingly scored film is an enigmatic tale of double identity.
