33 Records are pleased to announce the release of `Dancing for Miles', the second sensational album from one of the hottest new talents on the jazz scene: vocalist/songwriter Zoë Schwarz. Classically trained, Zoe has produced an album featuring seven of her original compositions and six well chosen contemporary standards from artists like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Deodato, Irving Berlin and Diana Krall. Zoë's voice possesses a remarkable flexibility; rich and smoky in its lower register with a thrilling, soaring eloquence in the upper range that reflects years of classical training. Working on improvisation techniques with the likes of celebrated contemporary composer Harrison Birtwistle, Zoë's discovery of jazz during the autumn of 2001 is less a happenstance than a love-at-first-sight inevitability. As Fiona Hayes put it in The Cylinder, reviewing one of Zoë's 2003 live gigs, "shades of Lady Day, Ella, Krall and Alison Moyet came seeping through, proving that Zoë is a singer for all tastes, whilst retaining her own unique style." Her singing, never far from the blues, combines a freshness and originality that gives her a distinctive approach to the material.
