Music from Iraq: Babylonian Fingers

Ahmed Mukhtar leerde oud en percussie van toonaangevende traditionele muzikanten uit zijn geboorteplaats Bagdad. Hij vervolgde zijn studie aan het conservatorium van Damascus en later aan het London College of Music. Hij baseert zijn stukken op de maqam, maar neemt de ruimte die deze structuur biedt. Hij gebruikt zowel de rijke en complexe muzikale traditie van MesopotamiÙ, maar past ook innovatieve technieken en harmonieÙn toe op deze volledig instrumentale cd.
