Jimmy McGovern's critically acclaimed and 'deeply satisfying' ensemble drama returns for a fourth series. Every episode is a cracker! Each is a self-contained story driven by the pivotal character's desire or inability to move on , resulting in a major turning point in their lives. McGovern's themes are dark and disturbingly close to home, the issues complex and provocative.

The stellar cast features Rob James-Collier (Downton Abbey / Coronation Street), Olivier award winner Matthew Kelly (Stars in Your Eyes), comedian Jason Manford, Gillian Kearney (Casualty) and Paul McGann (Doctor Who/ Alien 3).

Episode 1 - The Shrine, Noreen Kershaw directs Matthew Kelly (Cold Blood, Bleak House) and Barbara Flynn (Cranford, Cracker) in this warm and emotional drama. John and Carol have been trying to sell their house for months. When a man is accidentally killed outside their house, they try to be as sensitive as they can to the mourners congregating outside, but as the weeks turn into months, and the shrine encroaches ever further into their lives, they find themselves resorting to desperate measures to get their life back.

Episode 2 - Visiting Order, With international stars from The Killing, Lilyhammer and Downton Abbey, Visiting Order is a love story like no other. Liv is a single mum with a lot on her plate; two kids, a busy job, university studies - and a demanding Dad who s been in prison since the kids were little. Liv feels ashamed of her background, and works hard to ensure that no-one knows about it. When romance blossoms with teacher Aidan, Liv finally has the opportunity of the love and happiness that she deserves but will her shame about her Dad allow her to take it?

Episode 3 - Friends Like These, The writer of Sean Bean's acclaimed Accused episode as cross-dressing Tracy explores a school gates friendship that gets out of hand in this warmly entertaining drama. Danielle's a haphazard kind of mum but all the kids love her; she s funny, kind and a complete pushover. When Sonia, a new mum at her kids school befriends her, Danielle s grateful for the support and the gifts Sonia generously gives her. But when Sonia starts to get a little intense, Danielle s driven to ever more extreme and comical lengths to avoid her. Will Danielle ever find the strength to stand up for herself?

Episode 4 - Blood Ties, Acclaimed actor Robert Glenister (Spooks, Hustle), directs Paul McGann (Withnail and I, Doctor Who) and Jack Shepherd (Wycliffe, The Golden Compass) in this tense and moving drama. When Phil's Dad Charlie falls down the stairs, Phil knows he s going to have to help out more. But Charlie's the most stubborn patient you could meet, and the pressure of his daily care, along with a demanding job, soon begin to take their toll on Phil, resulting in a devastating accident that could change all of their lives for ever.

Episode 5 - That's Amore, Directed by comedy legend Johnny Vegas (Bleak House, Mr Stink), stand up comic Jason Manford and Rebekah Staton (Spy, Wallendar) star as a warring couple in this touching comedy drama. Gary's distraught when wife Lisa suddenly announces that she wants a divorce; he thought they were happy, but Lisa wants more from life. Unable to move out, and unable to sell their house, Gary and Lisa become the flat mates from hell and that's before they start bringing dates home.
