Hij trad in 1962 op in de Carnegie Hall met Bob Dylan en Pete Seeger en hij word gezien als een invloedrijke folkschrijver. Hij stierf in 1977 en liet een erfenis van 500 songs na. Ter gelegenheid van de 40e verjaardag van zijn overlijden brengt Greentrax deze compilatie uit 2003 opnieuw uit.
