When he thwarts an attempted robbery in his diner, he is lauded as a hero and the story is picked up by the national media. Soon afterwards, mobster Carl Fogarty (Ed Harris) arrives in town, convinced that Tom is actually Joey Cusack, a mob hitman. Despite Tom's protestations to the contrary, Carl begins stalking Tom and his family and the situation escalates to violence. The cast also includes William Hurt, Ashton Holmes and Peter MacNeill.
