Romantic comedy written and directed by Kevin Smith, starring Ben Affleck as Ollie Trink, a rich and successful New York media publicist with a beautiful wife, Gertrude (Jennifer Lopez) and a baby on the way. Ollie's life seems too good to be true until tragedy strikes: Gertrude dies in childbirth, leaving Ollie alone with his new baby daughter. Emotionally destroyed, Ollie moves out of New York to live with his father, Bart (George Carlin), in New Jersey - but things continue to deteriorate and Ollie is fired from his job. Over time he strikes up a tentative friendship with Maya (Liv Tyler), a girl who works in his local video store, who - along with his now seven-year-old daughter, Gertie (Raquel Castro) - helps him to see that it's what's inside that matters, rather than the outward trappings of success.
