It's Right Here for You

The Record Supervision Collection continues with this classic set of recordings by the Alex Welsh Band. The Welsh bands brand of hard driving Chicago style jazz made it the first choice of many touring American Jazz artists including Bud Freeman, Wild Bill Davison, Ruby Braff and Red Allen. There were two renowned front line teams in the Welsh band and this set features the earlier one of Roy Crimmins and Archie Semple (the previous LAKE release featuring Archie Semple LACD187 as been one of the best sellers of the series). The line-up also features guitarist Diz Disley who was instrumental in Stephane Grappelli reactivating his career in the 1970s. The CD has Django Reinhardts brother Joseph guesting on two tracks, including Djangos own tune Nuages. The final four tracks were recorded as novelty singles featuring drummer Lennie Hastings doing Richard Tauber impersonations accompanied by the rest of the band Fidgety Feet; Exactly Like You; Dardanella; Lazy River; Montmartre; Chinatown My Chinatown; Its Right Here For You; Hindustan; Nuages; Stans Dance; I Hadnt Anyone Till You; Youre Driving Me Crazy; Tansy; Memphis March; Auf Wiedersehen My Dear; One, Two, Drink Up; My Heart & I; When The Lilacs Bloom Again.
