Sherlock Holmes The Musical began life at The Northcote theatre in Exeter in 1988, but quickly found critical acclaim and a moved on for a highly successful run at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End. Unsurprising, when the Internationally recognised Detective and sidekick partnership created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, continues to captivate and inspire generations and produce books, films and memorabilia enough to give London it's very own highly popular museum.
After the initial success, the piece was revived to great acclaim starring Robert Powell (Jesus Of Nazareth, The Detectives, Mark Williams in Holby City), and Roy Barraclough MBE, (Les Dawson's comedy partner and star of Coronation Street and numerous TV Dramas). It is this revival that TER recorded to continue their series of recordings written by Leslie Bricusse, which have included Stop The World I Want To Get Off, Pickwick and Scrooge.
This recording makes an essential addition to the collection of any Sherlock Holmes fan, and is a classic example of the regionally nurtured and highly successful productions that abound in British Musical Theatre.
