I Remember Mama

The re-release of TER's recording of the Richard Rodgers musical 'I Remember Mama', which was to reclaim a relatively obscure and unrecorded work from the Rodgers cannon.

'I Remember Mama' opened in 1979, already a successful book, film and TV series, but found itself out of fashion. An Original Cast recording was thus never made, and in 1985 TER decided to re-unite George Hearn and George S Irving, two of the shows original stars with Sally Anne Howes and a host of other West End and Broadway names, for this highly anticipated and welcomed World Premiere recording.

Richard Rodgers was the most successful composer of popular music for the theater in the 20th century, he wrote more than 900 songs for 43 Broadway musicals. He is best known for his song writing partnerships with the Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II. His compositions have had a significant impact on popular music and have an enduring widespread appeal. Rodgers is one of only two people to have ever won an Oscar, a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize.
