London. 1874. After receiving an anonymous letter postmarked ‘Singapore’, Sally embarks on a quest to uncover the circumstances of her father’s premature death in the South China Seas and the reason why three seemingly harmless words from her mouth – “The Seven Blessings” – led to the sudden demise of his associate. Acquiring two new friends – young photographer Frederick and quick-witted street urchin Jim – the intrepid Sally searches for clues to the unfolding mystery amid the shadowy underworld of Victorian London.

Six years after solving the mysteries surrounding the death of her father, Sally has set herself up as a financial consultant. When one of her clients loses a large sum of money invested in a shipping firm, she is determined to find out why so many of their ships have mysteriously vanished. Sally turns to her amateur detective friends, but soon finds they are just as keen to enlist her help with a magician on the run from underworld thugs, a psychic medium seemingly tapping into shady business secrets and an arranged marriage from an heiress.
