Bishop Street detectives uncover the secrets of a disparate group of suspects linked to their latest cold case - a dismembered body found in marshland. DCI Jess James and DI Sunny Khan's inquiries lead them to four suspects - a lecturer at a prestigious university, a journalist for a populist news channel, an interpreter who escaped Afghanistan and an autistic young carer increasingly drawn to online hate culture. As their investigation continues, the detectives also contend with personal crises - Sunny is adrift after breaking up with his long-term partner, while Jess tries to recover from her husband's betrayal.
