The Ego Has Landed! Bob Graham probably played on more records in the 60s than any other session drummer, and some of his finest (and previously unissued) moments are here, plus a few more recently recorded tracks with his own Jazz Experience.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in 1940 in Edmonton, North London, Bobby's first love was jazz, but he first played rock'n'roll with The Stormers - re-named The Outlaws by Joe Meek, for whom they served as a virtual houseband behind such as Mike Berry & John Leyton. He also worked with Joe Brown's Bruvvers, Marty Wilde's Wildcats & the John Berry Seven, and turned down an invitation to replace Pete Best in The Beatles. "The Guitar Player" with Davey Graham in 1962 was the first of thousands of sessions with amongst others Petula Clark, Dusty Sprinfield, Brenda Lee, Them,The Kinks, Marianne Faithful,Eddy Mitchell, Francoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan many through legendary "fixer" Charlie Katz. He moved into production with The Pretty Things, made records with The London All Stars for France's Barclay Records, and spent four years with EMI Holland. From I973-75 Graham produced a variety of acts for Christian labels. He then opened The Trading Post, a collectors record shop in Edmonton. He soon tired of the 9-5 and started a business making training videos for Midland Bank and Ladbrokes and filming weddings and bar mitzvahs. 1990 saw a return to playing with The Jazz Experience, who now play regularly around Hertfordshire. He has written a book "Session Man" about his experiences.
