Item no. : 300078032 Item Name:1:350 Jap. Destroyer Kagero. This is a kit of the Japanese Navy Destroyer Kagero. The Kagero destroyer class leader ship included a total of 19. Filed in September 1937, the Kagero was completed in just over two years and put into operation in November 1939. While the Kagero is recognized as an effective destroyer design, she, like many of her colleagues, did mainly escort and shepherd work toward her target, as she did in the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Later in the war she saw action on the "Tokyo Express" runs when destroyers were commissioned to supply and reinforce Japanese garrisons in the Solomon Islands. It found its end in the US mines in 1943. Key design features of the kit On the aft deck is the additional 5" gun turret seen on early World War II Kagero ships (it was later replaced by anti-aircraft guns in the war). New parts show the paravane and loading gun as well as an updated deck area to accommodate the new parts. The efficient, clear original Kagero deck is captured with great detail. New parts show the bridge without radar space. Transparent parts are used for windows. The Kagero mast from the Second World War is equipped with fewer radar devices than ships from the late war, such as the model of the Japanese destroyer Yukikaze. Features left/right fuselage parts with fine representation of the fuselage panel connections and demagnetizing cable. Metal parts are used to replicate anchor chains and cardan shafts with robust ABS mast and flag parts. Poly caps are built into the three 5-inch gun turrets and the two torpedo launchers to allow rotation. New photo-etched parts show paravane crane, frame antenna and propeller protection with precision. New decals are included.
