The Soarer was launched in February 1981 as Toyota's first luxury passenger car. Its sophisticated, powerful six-cylinder engine and luxurious features, which used state-of-the-art automotive electronics at large scale, attracted great popularity and attention. A VR Turbo was added to the Soarer in June 1981. Equipped with an in-line six-cylinder turbo engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission, the vehicle delivers 145 hp. With the help of the 4-wheel independent suspension, the Soarer is well suspended for the time and therefore achieves excellent driving performance. The vehicle allowed comfortable and spacious driving at high speed and quickly gained the reputation as the best private car of the 1980s.
