Giedrius Alkauskas graduated from Anykšciai Music School in 1992. In 2006, 2009, and 2011 concerts of his music took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2011 the Lieder album "Into the dream and magic-sphere." for the bass singer and the piano was released. His musical style is defined by a stylization, encompassment of aesthetics of the late Romantic period, the use of abrupt chord progressions, harmonic understanding of music, the juxtaposition of static dissonant chords, the usage of dance rhythms, and polymodality. His musical language is influenced by B. Bartók, M.P. Mussorgsky, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, R. Wagner, A. Dvorák, S.S. Prokofiev, R. Strauss, R. Vaughan Williams, folk music, minimalism, neoclassicism, and impressionism, and his inspiration comes from poetry, mythology, and the countryside. The composer works at Vilnius University, where he teaches musicology, acoustics, and music.
