The Russian standard tank T-90 was developed in 1989 by the design office "Uralvagonzavod" in Nizhny Tagil as another modification of the T-72 (T-72BU). In 1993, the T-90 was put into service. The tank is armed with a 125 mm smooth tube cannon 2A46M for increased accuracy of hit. The cannon can not only fire different types of grenades, but also laser-guided missiles. The use of the automatic loader achieves a shot speed of 7-8 grenades per minute, which distinguishes the T-90 from the majority of enemy tanks. The T-90 can not only be used against all ground targets, but also against enemy low-flying aircraft and helicopters. These features, along with the sighting system, the 1A45T, allow the modern tank to destroy any enemy before it comes at a distance to use its weapons. The auxiliary armament consists of a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun PKTM and a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun 6P49 "Kord" which is mounted on the tower. The self-protection of the tank is achieved through the use of active armour and the complex optical-electronic suppression "blind-1".
