90年代が幕を開けるタイミングで行われた、U2とB.B.キングによるダブリンでのカウントダウン・ライヴ！『ラトル＆ハム（魂の叫び）』（88年）をフォローする形で、B.B.キングをサポート・アクトに1989年の9月から行われた〈Lovetown Tour〉は、1stレッグは〈Joshua Tree Tour〉で回れなかったオセアニアを2ヶ月に渡って回り、11月23日から12月1日までは日本でも6公演が行われた。12月はヨーロッパ・ツアーで、その千秋楽が89年12月26日から31日まで（28日はお休み）行われた地元のダブリンでの４公演となった。新年のカウントダウンが終わったところから演奏がスタート。ジミヘン風味の「見張り塔からずっと」や、「ランニング・トゥ・スタンド・スティル」の最後ではダブリナーズによって地元では誰もが知ることになった歌「ダーティ・オールド・タウン」に繋げて大喝采となった。アンコールではB.B.キングが登場し、『魂の叫び』に収録されていた3曲を共演。中でも「When Love Comes To Town」はB.B.がU2に依頼して作ってもらった曲で、〈Joshua Tree Tour〉の合間にメンフィスでレコーディング、アルバムにはライヴ・ヴァージョンが収録された。B.B.のライヴでは長年に渡って演奏される定番曲となったものだ。とにかく、絶頂期のU2の地元凱旋ライヴでカウントダウンとなれば盛り上がらないはずがない。そのものすごい歓声までを余すことなく収録している。一方で、次作の『アクトン・ベイビー』（91年）以降、作風を変えていくU2にとっては、この日のライヴはここまでの時代の締めくくりを意識したものであったようだ。まさに時代の境目の一瞬を記録した貴重な音源だ。
