Natalino Otto wurde als Natale Codognotto am 24.12.1912 in Cogoleto, Italien geboren. Zunächst arbeitete er als Schneider. Er nahm Musikunterricht und spielte in verschiedenen Bands in Genua. Später heuerte Natalino Otto auf Transatlantikdampfern an, wo er als Schlagzeuger der Bordkapelle spielte. Dort kam er mit dem amerikanischen Jazz in Berührung, was seinen Gesangsstil prägen sollte. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Italien sang Natalino Otto in verschiedenen Orchestern. 1953 nahm er zum ersten Mal am Festival di San Remo teil, was ihn landesweit bekannt machte. Insgesamt nahm Natalino Otto fünf Mal am Festival in San Remo teil. Natalino Otto veröffentlichte von den 40er Jahren bis in die 60er Jahre zahlreiche erfolgreiche Schallplatten und gründete sogar seine eigene Plattenfirma.
