Nach dem Spielfilm "Tarzan in Manhatt an" (1989) verkörpert hier Joe Lara erneut den Urwaldhelden. Gedreht wurde im Sun City Resort in Südafrika, damit ist diese Umsetzung der Geschichten frei nach Edgar Rice Burroughs eine der wenigen, die auch tatsächlich auf diesem Kontinent gedreht wurden.
