DESCRIPTION

The young Margaret Hale (Daniela Denby-Ashe) grows up completely protected in the south of England. As a pastor's daughter, she enjoys some privileges. But from one day to the other, her father Richard (Tim Pigott-Smith) suddenly breaks with the church and gives up his place. The family remains nothing more than to follow him to the North English industrial town of Milton. Margaret is hard to come to terms with the new environment. The social differences are ambiguous here and it can hardly see the daily misery of the working families. That's why she decides to fight for these people. Their declared enemy is factory owner John Thornton (Richard Armitage). At first, she still tries to talk reasonably with him about improving working conditions, but he does not listen to her. Nevertheless, he is impressed by her indomitable temperament. Even Margaret must pay respect to him as she learns more about his past, which has made him such a rigorous and seemingly merciful man.

Meanwhile, their contact with the factory workers is becoming increasingly closer, people now come to Margaret with all their worries. But even you do not allocate fate an easy lot. When her mother falls ill and is close to death, she would love to fulfill her one last wish: once again see her son Frederick. But he lives in exile, his return to England could be dangerous to the whole family. Meanwhile, Margaret and John are approaching a little to actually negotiate better working conditions. But their relationship remains tense. Now it hits the young woman particularly hard. Shortly after her mother, her father also dies. A friend of the family, Margaret's godfather now cares for her. When travelling together to her southern English hometown, she must find that a lot has changed here. She no longer feels at home there and misses her acquaintances in Milton. But what should a destitute woman do? Right now, fate shows itself against kind: her godfather wants to spend the rest of his life in South America and overwrites her his fortune.

With this legacy, Margaret returns to Milton, because there is someone who has been waiting for her for a long time.

The love and life story of Margaret Hale is an extremely successful and fascinating film. The BBC has made a piece of history alive with this production, because the backdrop and features of this four-piece are masterful. A feast for every lover of past England and a story that touches every spectator.
