Mitte der 50er Jahre entwickelte sich zunächst in den U.S.A. eine Subkultur des Aufbegehrens gegen die Lebensweise der älteren Generation. Filme wie "Der Wilde" und "Die Faust im Nacken" mit Marlon Brando oder "Denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun…" mit James Dean bewegten die Jugend. Mit "Rock Around The Clock" entzündete Bill Haley 1954 das Rock'n'Roll Fieber, das schnell weltweit um sich Griff. Die Rock'n'Roll Stars der ersten Stunde entwickelten aus den altbekannten Country- und Rhythm & Blues Klängen neue, wilde Rhythmen, die die jungen Hörer in Ekstase versetzten. Bei Konzerten von Chuck Berry, Little Richard und Jerry Lee Lewis ging nicht selten das Mobiliar zu Bruch. Es war eine wilde Zeit des Aufbruchs, die ihre eigenen Stars hervorbrachte. Mit Elvis Presley erreichte der Rock'n'Roll seinen Höhepunkt. Regelmässig fielen die jungen Mädchen reihenweise in Ohnmacht. Zunächst noch von den Medien verteufelt, wurde Elvis kurze Zeit später zur Ikone der amerikanischen Popmusik. Auf dieser CD sind die wichtigsten Meilensteine des Rock'n'Roll in Originalaufnahmen enthalten. Neben den Hits der bekannten Stars wie Bill Haley und Buddy Holly finden sich auch viele One-Hit-Wonder, die damals die Charts anführten.
