Tinctoris/Barbingant: Masses

The vocal ensemble Beauty Farm invites us on a journey of discovery with little-known masterpieces of the 15th century that show how amazingly full music for only three voices can sound. While Johannes Tinctoris (c. 1435-1511) is known today primarily as an renaissance music theorist and composer, we know very little about the composer Barbingant. His Missa Terriblement is presented here in a world premiere recording. Based on the chanson of the same name, Barbingant - uniquely in music history - wove this chanson into all three voices of the mass. Beauty Farm was founded 2014 by Markus Muntean and Bernhard Trebuch. Consisting of three vocalists, Beauty Farm focuses on the Franco-Flemish polyphony of the renaissance. The international ensemble is based in the carthusian monastery at Mauerbach (Austria). The singers are members of well known ensembles like Capilla flamenca, Huelgas Ensemble, Vox Luminis, Collegium Vocale Gent and Graindelavoix. Beauty Farm exclusively records for frabernardo.
