THE MARTYRDOM OF A CATASTROPHIST, the debut album of the Boston quartet JUNIUS is not only thematically an unusual work - it is based on the controversial theories of Immanuel Velikovsky- who made a very controversial 'history of mankind' the basis of his work. Musically too, it strikes a wide arc, ranging from alternative and wave to post and indie rock. Recorded at the legendary A&M studios in Hollywood by Kevin Mills and Tom Syrowski (Weezer, AFI, Incubus) as well as mastered by Dave Collins (Danny Elfman, Black Sabbath, The Police), it leaves nothing to be desired in sonic terms. The haunting, often hypnotic vocals, the gloomy - shimmering grid walls and the nested drum beats draw the image of a band that clearly knows what they want and it knows only the best of the named musical styles to create a very own sound. In early 2008, Junius released the album of the same name, which summarized the two EP's Forcing Out The Silence and Blood is Bright in sonically remastered form plus a bonus song.
