'Rise of the Phoenix' marks the final chapter of the first era of Before the Dawn and captures a time of major change within the band. During its creation, the future of the group was uncertain, with the sense already present that this might become the last album of that era. Despite this, the songwriting process was remarkably smooth and inspired. The album reflects a unique emotional balance of aggression, melancholy and a surprising sense of relief - a 'light at the end of the tunnel' feeling that shaped its atmosphere. Songs like 'Phoenix Rising' embody the raw energy of the record, while 'Throne of Ice' became an important creative bridge toward Tuomas Saukkonen's next chapter with Wolfheart. At the time of its release in April 2012, the album's lifespan was unexpectedly short, as Before the Dawn was put to rest shortly after, limiting live performances to a single European tour and a handful of festivals. As a result, the album has long felt underrepresented in the band's legacy. Now receiving its first-ever vinyl release on 22.08.2026 via Reaper Entertainment, 'Rise of the Phoenix' finally returns in a format that honours its importance - both as the closing statement of an era and the beginning of a new musical path.
