New album from the Grindpunker by Closet Witch. The band from Iowa impresses with furious grindcore punk. Appears as CD and vinyl LP (clear red with black splatter) on Moment Of Collapse Records. Midwest Emo and Midwest hardcore/punk were a big deal in the U.S. in the 80s to 2000s. The biggest mistake you can make is putting Closet Witch from Iowo, so the Midwest in that very corner. Instead, the band offers raging grindcore punk at the highest level. Formed in 2014, the quartet has released a demo, some splits and EPs so far, as well as a critically acclaimed album. Their new album "Chiaroscuro" speaks for itself and can satisfy grind and power violence lovers without exception. Chaotic, aggressive, cathartic and anything but easy listening. Guest appearances by Dylan Walker (Full Of Hell or Dan Lee Wanderer) round out the whole thing even more. The interplay of the musicians is stunningly tight, but not too complicated. While other Mathcore bands lose themselves in many details, Closet Witch remain personal, charismatic and authentic without losing intensity.
