Der Künstler Richard kann sich seine britische Heimat nicht mehr leisten und lebt in Tanger. Mit seiner Hilfe schafft der junge Marokkaner Malik es zu seinem Sehnsuchtsort Europa. Dort soll ausgerechnet die konservative Politikerin Mathilda ihn verstecken. Mathildas Assistentin, die Juristin Amina, die ihre marokkanischen Wurzeln endlich hinter sich lassen will, wird als „kulturelle Vermittlerin“ eingeschaltet und soll das Problem lösen. Doch Malik hat eigene Pläne. Auf sich allein gestellt, tritt er unabsichtlich eine Lawine los.
