The trio's long beards from the deepest Irish South make it easy to compare them to ZZ Top, but when they played in support for those true Texans in 2015, they were wildly determined to stand only for themselves. To match the band's tenth anniversary, this is the fifth album for Crow Black Chicken and captures the band at the height of their career. Recorded during two concerts in Ireland, South Roman Street gathers 74 minutes of rough, edgy rock that takes the listener on a roller coaster ride of sounds: from the frenetic rock of Bleedinto the quieter tones of Lie Awake. With tracks from all studio albums, South Roman Street is an absolute approximation to the live experience of Crow Black Chicken.
