These include productions of today's great choreographers and of course the legacy of the legendary Marius Petipa. Ji í Kylián is one of the most important and legendary choreographers of its generation. Born in 1947, the Czech created over 100 masterpieces, most of them were created especially for the Nederlands Dans Theatre. Three of these ballets are combined in this exclusive collection: Birthday Day: Kylián's sense of humour comes into the foreground, but the tragedy is lurking behind the humour. After all, every birthday means a further step away from the day of birth and a step towards death. "Birthday Day" plays a game over time. Mozart's music is either Adagio or Prestissimo and the same applies to the movements that are sometimes done at twice the speed and some collapse down to motion. Bella Figura: Kylián dares to the gray zone of the human soul. Dream and reality bounce on stage and constantly move perspectives. Flash-like images change rapidly in colour and mood and blend harmoniously with a collage of renaissance and baroque music by Vivaldi, Torelli and Pergolesi. The result is incredible and enigmatic at the same time. Sleepless: In the fascinating ballet "Sleepless", a work for six young dancers, the stage picture plays an important role. It features a wall behind which the dancers – or sometimes just their body parts – appear, disappear and *. The stage design allows unexpected performances or creates optical illusions of heads that do not seem to sit on the heads in a grossy way.
