Nach THE HOST kommt nun der nächste Monstermovie-Hit aus Korea. Schauplatz ist eine einsame Tiefsee-Bohrinsel in Sector 7, einem Areal auf offener See südlich vor Korea. Kurz vor der Aufgabe der Bohrungen wagt die Managerin der Insel (Ha Ji-won) einen letzten Versuch, Öl aus der Tiefsee zu fördern. Doch anstelle von Öl findet die Crew etwas anderes. Etwas, das 2.500 m unter dem Meeresspiegel nur darauf gewartet hat, loszuschlagen .
