Die 311 Bewohner der Station, darunter der Commander John Koenig (Martin Landau), Dr. Helena Russell (Barbara Bain), Prof. Victor Bergman (Barry Morse), Alan Carter (Nick Tate), Paul Morrow (Prentis Hancock), David Kano (Clifton Jones), Sandra Benes (Zienia Merton) und Yasko (Yasuko Nagazumi) landen fortan auf fremden Planeten und lernen deren Bewohner kennen. Maya (Catherine Schell) vom Planeten Psychon wird in die Mondbasis aufgenommen und verliebt sich in den neuen Ersten Offizier, Tony Verdeschi (Tony Anholt).
