Der 20-jährige Herumtreiber Paul kommt in New York City am Busbahnhof Port Authority an und hofft, bei seiner älteren Schwester Sara wohnen zu können. Als die attraktive Wye seine Aufmerksamkeit erregt, zieht ihn die Neugier in die Ballroom-Szene hinein. Rasch entstehen zwischen Paul und Wye intensive Gefühle. Wye stellt dem ziellosen jungen Mann ihre selbst gewählte Ersatzfamilie vor und führt ihn in die LGBTQ*-Subkultur ein.
