Ahnenkult wurde 2010 in Freiburg gegründet. Im selben Jahr wurde auch das Demo-Tape „Kult“ veröffentlicht. In den Jahren 2014 und 2015 folgten zwei weitere EPs „Allmacht“ und „Götterkult“. Ahnenkult befassten sich auf dem Vorgängeralbum "Als das Licht verging" mit der astrologischen Seite der nordisch-germanischen Mythologie. Das neue Album „Wanderer“ kommt noch viel düsterer & härter daher, dass Adam vom WALDHALLA Magazin dies somit auf dem Punkt bringt: „Mit "Wanderer" erklimmen Ahnenkult die Spitze des deutschsprachigen Black-Metal-Kults!
