Weibliche Herrscherinnen waren in den Strukturen des 16. Jahrhunderts eigentlich nicht vorgesehen. Sie widersprachen dem passiven, gehorsamen und schweigsamen Frauenbild der Zeit. Mit Masque-Musik von Byrd, Dowland, Morley, Parsons u.a. blickt ensemble feuervogel hinter diese königlichen Masken, durchbricht höfische Fassaden und erkundet, wie die Problematik der Rollenbilder unter Elizabeth I. gelöst wurde.
