One of the well-known German prog metal bands is without a doubt Ivanhoe from Bietigheim-Bissingen. Ivanhoe was founded in 1986 by Giovanni Soulas (bass), Markus Britsch (keyboards) and Lars Hörnig (drums). The debut album Visions and Reality (1994) was then recorded with the line-up Andy B. Franck (vocals), Chuck Schuler (guitar), Giovanni Soulas (bass), Lars Hönig (drums) and Markus Britsch (keyboards). Polarised (1997), the group's third album, developed into the apex of the band's history. After singer Andy B. Franck wanted to move into a different style, the group was put on ice for a while. In 2001, Soulas and Welsch decided to reanimate Ivanhoe. They were able to win musical star Mischa Mang as a singer, who had played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, among others, and is known throughout the German musical industry for his exceptionally expressive voice. At the end of 2010, it was decided to part with Sebastian Brauchle (drums) and sign up the talented youngster Mathias Biehl (21 years old). With this line-up, the band was very active again on the live front and played highly acclaimed shows as support for Queensryche and the Scorpions, among others. The prog metal highlight was recorded in the Red Room Studios with producer Andy Horn (Lanfear, Edenbridge, Voices Of Destiny and others) and marks the return of the Swabian prog metal veterans with their strongest album to date!
