Der Würzburger Domorganist Stefan Schmidt studierte bei Daniel Roth und erweist sich in dieser bislang unveröffentlichten Aufnahme von 2002 als ein äußerst sensibler, dabei zugleich technisch virtuoser Interpret der berühmten Douze Pièces von César Franck. Die 2001 durch die Firma Göckel erbaute Orgel von St. Peter in Düsseldorf, an der er einige Jahre als Organist wirkte, konnte ohne Kompromisse nach französisch-symphonischem Vorbild konzipiert werden und eignet sich deshalb hervorragend als eines der wenigen derartigen Instrumente rechts des Rheins für dieses Repertoire.
