Cheetahs are among the particularly popular stars of the African nature reserves: Although they are relatively rare, they are quite "accessible" for tourists as purely day-active hunters. In the tourist areas of the national parks, they are regularly surrounded by car castles. How do they cope with it? Do cheetahs have to "sacrifice" themselves to visitors to preserve the habitat of other species? Can tourism financially save the parks? What role does the animal film industry, whose products are always incentives to travel to the "animal paradise"?
The film opens with episodes of cheetahs at the Moru Kopjes, in the southwest of the Serengeti. The fascination of fast-paced cats, but also the risk of their specialisation in high-speed chases is conveyed. The focal point of the plot, however, lies at the extreme northern edge of the ecosystem: here, in the Masai Mara Reserve, the herds come from August to October over the dry season. And here, on the adjacent pasture land of the Masai shepherds, the contradiction and the dilemma of African nature conservation is exemplary. Traditional life forms can soon be as important and worth preserving as "original wilderness." Even if this has nothing to do with the so often quoted "harmony between shepherds and wilderness."

With spectacular images and atmospheric atmospheres, the film builds on the one hand the well-known Africa clichés, on the other hand, the perspective is always corrected to clear the view of the most repressed aspects of today's protected areas.
