With GRAN DUO, composer Stefan Streich and the Duo Refl exion K present a fascinating chamber music work that condenses minimalist sounds into a complex experience lasting almost an hour and a half. The music unfolds organically, developing seemingly simple musical motifs into a multi-layered, constantly surprising soundscape that transports the listener into a world full of subtle nuances. The work is divided into nine movements that alternate between clearly structured passages and dense musical textures. Despite the reduced source material - monophonic lines, small rhythmic-melodic units - an impressive spectrum of tonal colors emerges. The musical forms are constantly changing and create unexpected connections between the movements. Motifs reappear in a diff erent form, while details are magnified. Streich‘s composition demands attentive listening and inspires with its constant tonal development and ambiguity.
