Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773) nahm als Flötenlehrer Friedrichs des Großen eine herausragende und privilegierte Stellung im musikalischen Leben am preußischen Hof ein. Viele seiner Werke ebenso wie viele der von ihm gebauten Flöten entstanden ab 1741 exklusiv für den Monarchen. Frank Theuns spielt hier auf einer originalgetreuen Kopie einer Quantz-Flöte einige dieser "Privat-Konzerte". Theuns und Les Buffardins verwenden dabei den tiefen französischen Stimmton (a' = 392 Hz), der am Hof üblich war, und lassen so die besondere Klangästhetik in Sanssouci wiedererstehen.
