Illegale handel in donororganen is het voornaamste thema van de nieuwe en spannende thriller van regisseur Baltasar Kormákur („Jar City“). Hoofdrolspeler Dermot Mulroney (“About Schmidt“) is op een spannende zoektocht naar Mexico om zijn dochter te redden. Daarbij komt hij in meerdere situaties terecht waarop hij niet was voorbereid en die hem keihard op de proef zullen stellen .

Advocaat Paul Chaney en zijn vrouw Diane wachten in New Mexico wanhopig op een geschikte orgaandonor voor hun zieke dochter Chloe. Door een toeval horen ze een verhaal over ene dr. Novarro, die in de Mexicaanse grensstad Juarez illegale transplantaties uitvoert. Als Chloe’s toestand dramatisch verslechtert, gaat de vertwijfelde Paul op zoek naar Novarro. Na een wanhopige zoektocht ziet Paul zich met de gruwelijke waarheid geconfronteerd worden: de organen voor de transplantaties komen niet van donoren maar van willekeurige slachtoffers. Hoe ver moet Paul gaan om het leven van zijn dochter te redden?
