Total playing time: 50 minutes Originally released in 1973, this self-titled album marks the fourth output of the legendary German Prog/Psych/Experimental German Krautrock band, around drummer and mastermind Mani Neumeier. With keyboarder Conrad Plank missing, Guru Guru was recorded in a classic power trio line-up, with Bruno Schaab replacing Uli Trepte on bass. This album is a true Krautrock piece, inspired by popular rock'n'roll bands of the 60's & early 70's, standing out from the common ground, due to the band's quirky progressions and humorous lyrics, featuring the over 13 minutes long 'Medley,' a shoutout to Eddie Cochran. The song 'Der Elektrolurch' marks the birth of the imaginary electric amphibian creature that would become the band's trademark, and it is featured on this album for the very first time. The song, acted out on stage during live performances by Mani Neumeier wearing a costume he designed, is an eagerly awaited highlight of every Guru Guru live show to these days.
