Unterwegs im Herzen der Highlands, erhält Edmond Murray (James McAvoy) einen Anruf von seiner in Tränen aufgelösten Ex-Frau Joan (Claire Foy). Ihr siebenjähriger Sohn ist auf einem Campingplatz verschwunden. Als Edmond am Campingplatz ankommt, trifft er auf Joan und den führenden Ermittler Inspector Roy (Gary Lewis). Nach aussichtlosen Einsätzen des Suchtrupps wird klar, dass es sich beim Verschwinden des Jungens um eine Entführung handelt. Eine unangenehmen Begegnung zwischen Edmond und Joans neuem Freund Frank (Tom Cullen) schöpft bei Edmond Verdacht .
